The History of Our Company

Pat Ryan Golf was founded in 1986 by Dennis Hukriede. The company was named after Dennis' two sons, Pat and Ryan. The company was then bought by Randy Langkos who in the Fall of 1997 moved the company from St. Louis Park to its present location in Minnetonka.

The Cook family purchased the company in January of 2000. Tom Sr. was the head club fitter at Pat Ryan Golf for the 2 years prior to that. Tom Sr. is a Certified "Class A" Professional Clubmaker, which is one of the highest classifications possible with the Professional Clubmakers' Society. He was selected in 2002 as "International Clubmaker of the Year" by the Professional Clubmakers' Society. He is also a Charter Member of the World Scientific Congress of Golf Trust, St. Andrews, Scotland and was the only clubmaker from the US to attend the International Golf Theory In Practice Conference in Ireland. Tom Sr. and his wife Sue have attended the World Scientific Congress of Golf in St. Andrews, Scotland three of the four times it has been held.

Kimberly vanMeeteren and Sue Cook, her Mother are both Certified "Class A" Clubmakers. They are two of only 8 women in the world certified as "Class A" by the Professional Clubmakers' Society.

Tom and Sue's son, Tom Jr. came to the company from Sporting Goods, Inc., where he specialized in clubmaking. He is a Certified Professional "Class A"  Clubmaker, one of only two in Minnesota. He is also a Certified Rifle Specialist and the only Certified “Class A” Club Repairer in the state.  Tom Jr's wife Kim helps with the ad work and advertising.

Tom Sr. and Sue's daughter, Kimberly, is the company's bookkeeper and the person who controls the inventory. Her husband, Koen, helps with the website and is in charge of R & R, or is it R & D, research and development.  The grandchildren, Justein, Ashley, and Mark make sure the stores computer games work properly.

Pat Ryan Golf is truly a family operation. The Cooks have a love for golf. Tom Sr. and Sue are very competitive in couple’s tournaments, although, the only tournament they  have time to participate in is the couple’s tournament in Ortonville, MN. Don't be surprised if you see the whole family playing any given course on a Sunday afternoon. But, their main passion is the clubs. When you walk into their store you will realize quickly that fitting and building the best clubs is their true passion. They want people to maximize their game by playing with the best fitted and best quality equipment possible...and they are the best in Minnesota at doing just that.
